Margaux joined Sciences Po straight after high school, drawn in particular by the multidisciplinary nature of the curriculum. She discovers urban affairs somewhat by chance when, on her way to the University of Cambridge in her third year, she finds herself having to reassess her course choices: the year will not be focused on Asian studies, but rather on exploring urban issues within the "Land Economy" department. And she enjoys it! Delighted with her English experience, she heads towards the dual degree STU-LSE for "after 3A".

Attracted by the international scene and fascinated by major metropolises, she discusses, during the annual meeting of territorial professions, with a former member of Groupe Huit, a multidisciplinary consulting firm specialising in urban development in countries referred to as the "Global South". Originally focused on Africa, its scope has since expanded to Asia and Latin America. Her experience in Nairobi and Kenya, during an internship with UN-Habitat, reinforces her resolve to pursue urban issues in "Global South" countries.

Enchanted by Groupe Huit, she seizes an opportunity during her year at LSE to meet them. A few months later, the company is looking to recruit, and Margaux joins the team at the start of the term following her graduation.

Margaux now works within an international and multidisciplinary team. Being part of a small team allows her direct contact with experienced individuals from varied backgrounds; she is also starting the mapping – one of the deficiencies of the STU master programme, in her view. Moreover, she appreciates the variety of projects she works on, as well as the opportunities to travel frequently to the field. One of her first assignments was to identify infrastructure projects in Vietnam. The nature of her work heavily depends on her location. In France, she splits her time between responding to tenders, collecting and processing data, and drafting reports. When on assignment abroad, she focuses her efforts on gathering qualitative data (interviews) and conducting field visits.

While she believes that most learning happens on the job in terms of content, she feels Sciences Po has enabled her to develop essential qualities: a global perspective, synthesis skills, and curiosity. These competencies allow her to adapt easily and regularly serve her when responding to tenders. Currently, Margaux does not have time for any tenders; in a week, she is off to Lagos again...
